autobotdenSomething I wish more people would understand about Depression and other chronic illnesses:
The people who have them don't want to be tired all the time. The people who have them would love nothing more than to be able to do what they used to be able to do before the illness took hold. They don't want to be needing to constantly rest.
They'd rather be able to do basic things like keep their homes clean, do their laundry, do the dishes, cook meals, take care of their pets, and have a job.
STOP shaming them for not being able to do those things on your schedule. STOP telling them that they need to get their hours sorted out. STOP trying to push them to do more in a day than their bodies will allow them.
It isn't helping. It actually makes them feel worse about things beyond their control, and makes it harder for them, because the more energy they expend on a "good" day, the less they're able to do the next day, or even next several days.
Don't be THAT person.
